cat cafe mocha

I love cats and coffee, and what better option than to go to a cat cafe? On our third day in the Tokyo area, we managed to go to a cat cafe in Akihabara, a famous shopping district in Tokyo. Here’s what to expect from Cat Cafe Mocha!

  • Shibuya Koen-dori Store
  • Harajuku Store
  • Akihabara Store
  • Shinjuku Store

The cats

The list of resident cats changes for every branch. Here are some of the cats from the Akihabara branch. The full list of cats can be found here. The resident cats change periodically. This is because some cats “graduate” and are adopted by some of the workers. The cats are also fed twice a day. They are fed breakfast at 10:30 am and dinner at 7:30 pm.

The list of rules is simple: don’t be disruptive to other guests, and don’t chase or hold the cats. The cafe also states that they are not responsible for any injuries or stains that the cats can cause.

The cafe also comes with free wifi and you can even charge your devices there. Imagine working with a cat purring on your lap, or even writing a report for work. In all honesty, it makes me wish we had more cat cafes in America.

Drinks-wise, I forgot to take any photos, but I had a delicious iced strawberry milk drink.

Is Cat Cafe Mocha worth it?

Overall, Cat Cafe Akihabara is completely worth it. You can exit and re-enter the cat cafe as many times as you like. You can also pay the maximum charge upfront and stay all day if you so wish.

Cat Cafe Akihabara is located at:

Akihabara SIL Building 2F 4-4-3 Sotokanda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo

It is a five-minute walk from JR Akihabara station’s Denkigai exit. The front of the building is marked with a Carl’s Jr along Chuo-dori.

You can also visit any of their other locations located around the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. Each cafe will have different cats to see.

  1. I have heard about cat cafes (even ones with rabbits, pugs, or other dogs) and would love to go to one some day. I think my ultimate experience would be with a corgi cafe (there are none where I live so it may have to involve a vacation some where), but any animal to pet while I have coffee would be amazing!
